Yesterday afternoon we had a nice stroll round Shustoke Reservoir in Warwickshire with Steve Seal. Steve has been birding Shustoke and the surrounding area for many years and has more recently has started up a Shustoke Blog that can be found here: http://shustoke.blogspot.com/
We saw Wigeon, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Grey Heron, a Kestrel, GS Woody, Song Thrush, Dunnock, Chaffinch, Greenfinch and Goldfinch. In the ploughed field we had lots of Pied Wagtails, 8 Lapwing and two Red Legged Partridge. It was an interesting place and now we know the ropes, I suspect Max and I will be back here in the very near future.
Next Steve showed us around Ladywalk. Although we’ve recently joined West Midlands Bird Club, we hadn’t yet had chance to look round Ladywalk Reserve so it was good of Steve to give us a tour. We had a male Goosander and a Grey Wagtail on the river, and from the river walk hide a Little Egret. The feeders were quiet just Reed Buntings and the odd Chaffinch still around as it was getting a bit late. Another birder had seen a Green Sandpiper but we couldn’t find it. Another good place for Max and I to explore.
No birding for Max and I this weekend but next Friday we’re off to South Devon for four days. The weekend after that we are off to Walney in Cumbria on the Saturday (if the weathers good for it) but following this we’ll be out at various local patches enjoying the springtime….lots to look forward to!

Good work. You were unlucky not to get Marsh and Willow Tits on the feeders.
